Brody School of Medicine

Brody School of Medicine is a professional school at the East Carolina University, nationally recognized as one of the top graduate schools for primary care, family medicine and rural medicine. The school is also a national leader in the development and application of telemedicine, the use of interactive television to treat patients requiring specialized care in their home communities.

The school offers residency programs for the specialized training of graduate physicians, including family medicine, emergency medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, pathology and laboratory medicine, psychiatric medicine, surgery, and physical medicine and rehabilitation. It also offers programs leading to the doctor of philosophy degree in the following disciplines: anatomy and cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology and immunology, pathology, pharmacology, and physiology.

The Brody School of Medicine is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. East Carolina University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Rankings:

- Rated 28th in the country for primary care physician preparation and 7th in the rural medicine specialty (US News 2010).

- According to the 2006 U S News and World Report's America Best Graduate Schools Report, Brody School of Medicine was ranked 6th among top 10 medical schools for primary care, 7th for rural medicine, and 9th out of 126 medical schools in the nation for Family Medicine.
